PetDoing Originals · A fast paw-clapping duel

Pet Paw Duel

Two claps. One move. Fast paws win.

The original Dan Dao game returns with soft pet paws in place of human hands. Keep the rhythm: two claps, choose a move, reveal together, then go straight into the next round. Quick mode starts with one heart and a 1.6-second choice window. Classic starts with three hearts and lets you take your time choosing. Energy starts at zero in both modes.

Pet paws in the two-clap battle arena

Five moves, one shared reveal

  • Recharge — free. Gain one energy, up to a maximum of five. When the shared recharge bonus is enabled and both sides choose Recharge, both gain two instead. An attack can catch a recharging pet; the energy gain still happens.
  • Guard — free. Fully blocks Paw Tap and Zoomies. With the perfect guard reward enabled, a complete block earns one energy, respecting the cap. Guarding a non-attack gives no reward.
  • Paw Tap — one energy. Takes one heart from an unguarded rival.
  • Zoomies — two energy. Takes two hearts from an unguarded rival. Guard blocks it completely.
  • Pounce — three energy. Takes two hearts normally, or one heart through Guard. A partial block does not earn the guard reward.

When two attacks meet

Any two attacks cancel each other, and both sides still spend their energy. This includes a one-energy Paw Tap against a three-energy Pounce. More expensive moves create opportunities, but do not automatically beat cheaper attacks.

A pet with zero hearts after the reveal loses the match. You can start another match immediately. Quick mode gives you 1.6 seconds to choose after the two claps; doing nothing automatically selects Recharge. Classic has no decision timer. Both modes automatically begin the next round after each reveal. Locked or unaffordable moves cannot be selected. The gear button returns to setup and abandons the current match.

Your first match

  1. Choose Quick for a one-hit showdown or Classic for a three-heart match. The help button shows a picture guide to the five moves.
  2. Open the gear button for fur colors, pad colors and Casual or Reader mode. When rival personalities are enabled, a new one is chosen each match.
  3. Clap twice, then select Recharge to build energy or Guard to wait. In Quick mode, choose within 1.6 seconds; timeout means Recharge.
  4. Watch the rival's energy and the last few moves. A rival with three energy could Pounce, but might also save it.
  5. Try a Paw Tap when you expect Recharge. Try Guard against Tap or Zoomies. Vary your choices against Reader mode.

A fair computer opponent

The computer commits to a move before you select yours. Casual mode uses energy and, when enabled, a rival personality to weight legal moves. Reader mode can counter repeated patterns in your last two or three completed turns; it never receives your current choice.

Dreamer saves energy and favors larger moves when ready. Curious mixes moves and reduces repetition. Cozy favors guarding and recharging. Playful favors attacks when affordable. These are game strategies, not claims about real animal behavior.

Controls and comfort

Click or tap a move. On a keyboard, keys 1–5 select Recharge, Guard, Paw Tap, Zoomies and Pounce. Tab also reaches every control. Moves lock outside the choice window to prevent duplicate actions. Sound starts after you press Play, using the original synthesized clap and battle effects. Mute it with the sound button.

Use the gear button for settings, then choose a mode on the start screen. A rematch resets hearts and energy. Your system's reduced-motion preference reduces motion. If WebGL is unavailable, a clear fallback message appears and the duel controls remain playable.

Small experiments to try

Compare a patient and a playful rival. Keep the rule bonuses the same and compare matches with rival personalities enabled. Their choices are weighted, so a personality is a tendency rather than a guarantee.

Turn off shared recharge. Each Recharge now adds only one energy. Bigger moves take more preparation, while a cheap tap still cancels any attack.

Watch your own pattern. In Reader mode, repeatedly guarding or recharging invites a counter. Mix in a move that costs less than your full energy.

About this adaptation

PetDoing adapted its independently developed Dan Dao / clap-duel project. The original two-clap animation, input windows, automatic round flow, five-action rules, attack effects and adaptive rival logic remain intact. Human hands are replaced with procedural pet paws, with pink pads, short articulated toes and fur colors. Quick mode is selected by default. Palm-reading content is omitted.

This is an on-screen strategy game for people. Hearts are game points; no real animals are involved. There are no purchases, cash prizes, camera permissions or motion sensors. Matches run in your browser and are not saved after refresh. Fur, badge, text size, sound and optional-rule preferences can be saved on this device. Responsive browser layouts are tested; actual Android and iPhone feel still needs device testing.
