Sometimes the best way to meet a rabbit is to sit down and do less. Settle on a non-slip floor in a rabbit-proofed space, keep your movements slow, and let your rabbit decide whether to approach. A curious sniff is already a conversation; being picked up does not need to be part of it.

Leave a clear route back to a familiar hiding place. Avoid reaching into that retreat or following a rabbit that has moved away. Keep cables and houseplants out of reach before opening up an exercise area.
